Pope Benedict wear Slabbinck chasuble
During the Mass on May 11, 2007 canonizing frei Galvăo in Sao Paulo (Brazil), pope Benedict XVI wore a chasuble designed by Slabbinck.
“The Brazilian organisation contacted us only three weeks ago” explains Mathias Slabbinck, sales manager. “Late, but then again we have a reputation for delivering quality vestments on short notice!” Jeroen Kerre of Slabbinck and Thiago Moraes of Arte Sacro co-designed a contemporary chasuble and matching mitre with vertical, goldembroidered lines, that refer to the logo of the papal visit, but also to the Resurrection. The vestments are made in Cantate fabric (99% wool, 1% lurex) with the goldembroidery on the banding.
It is the first time that pope Benedict wears Slabbinck vestments. His predecessor John Paul II often wore Slabbinck vestments during his trips abroad.
